Rovi Sues Hulu Over Programming Guide Patents

Law360, New York (July 29, 2011, 12:47 PM EDT) -- Rovi Corp. sued popular online video provider Hulu LLC in Delaware on Thursday, claiming infringement of three patents related to electronic programming guides.

Entertainment data and content networking technology provider Rovi claims that Hulu's programming guides, as well as its media-on-demand services, violate three patents that are part of Rovi's extensive electronic programming guide patent portfolio.

Rovi says it talked with Hulu in 2008 about obtaining a license to the portfolio, but Hulu never took Rovi up on the offer.
