Green Activist Fights Sentence For Energy Lease Antics

Law360, New York (August 2, 2011, 7:24 PM EDT) -- An environmental activist sentenced in Utah to two years in prison for making fraudulent bids for Bureau of Land Management oil and gas leases on Monday appealed his conviction to the Tenth Circuit.

Tim DeChristopher, a 29-year-old climate change activist, challenged U.S. District Judge Dee Benson’s sentence and conviction after he posed as a bidder in a BLM auction to prevent oil and gas development on public land and protest the agency’s allegedly unscrupulous lease sales.
