Law360, New York (August 10, 2011, 1:54 PM EDT) -- On July 27, 2011, the California Environmental Protection Agency set a public health goal (PHG) for hexavalent chromium (also known as Chromium 6 — the chemical at issue in Hinkley, Calif., made famous in the movie "Erin Brockovich"), which is the first time there has been any standard for limiting this chemical in drinking water, setting the stage for the future establishment of a maximum contaminant level (MCL).
