CFTC Finalizes Whistleblower, Swap Data Rules

Law360, New York (August 4, 2011, 2:10 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission on Thursday finalized three rules, including one that establishes a whistleblower bounty program and a second setting requirements for swap data repositories.

The CFTC voted 4-1 to approve a whistleblower bounty program that will allow individuals who report new, original information about violations of the Commodity Exchange Act to receive between 10 and 30 percent of any civil monetary penalty over $1 million.
