Mayer Brown Reps DeVry In $235M Medical School Deal

Law360, New York (August 4, 2011, 3:02 PM EDT) -- DeVry Inc. said Thursday it would purchase the business operations of medical school American University of the Caribbean for $235 million as the for-profit education provider seeks to expand its academic offerings.

The Illinois-based educational company, which is the parent company of nine for-profit schools, said it made the deal because it hoped AUC’s strong partnerships with residency placement hospitals, highly regarded faculty and alumni network would help DeVry take advantage of the increasing demand for well-trained licensed physicians.
