Jet Engine Export Plotter Pleads Guilty

Law360, New York (August 4, 2011, 7:16 PM EDT) -- The first of four defendants in an illegal export operation pled guilty on Wednesday in Florida federal court to charges he participated in an unsuccessful scheme to export 22 U.S. fighter jet engines to Iran.

Diego M. Echeverri consented to plead guilty to count four of the indictment — fraudulently attempting to export J85 engines from the U.S. to Iran in violation of the International Emergency Economic Powers Act — after prosecutors agreed to drop the other five counts against him.
