IAP Says FOIA Release Would Breach Trade Secrets

Law360, New York (August 9, 2011, 1:53 PM EDT) -- IAP Worldwide Services Inc. on Friday in Washington sued the federal agency that enforces equal employment requirements for federal contractors in an effort to block the public release of a settlement amount with an employee, claiming the information constitutes trade secrets and is exempt from disclosure.

IAP said the settlement amount shouldn't be disclosed in response to a Freedom of Information Act request because it represents confidential commercial information that was voluntarily submitted to the government — by the settling employee — and isn't something that...
