Dems Urge EPA To Strengthen Pesticide Pollution Rules

Law360, New York (August 9, 2011, 5:35 PM EDT) -- Two top Democrats on the House Natural Resources Committee urged the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on Tuesday to require companies that pollute waters in seven states and tribal lands with pesticides to submit annual discharge reports.

In a letter sent to the EPA, Reps. Edward Markey, D-Mass. and Grace Napolitano, D-Calif., asked the EPA to strengthen a draft version of the pesticide general permit, which applies only to tribal lands, Vermont, Delaware, Idaho, Washington, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and the District of Columbia.
