Lawyer Gets 4 Years For $2.5M Investment Fraud

Law360, New York (August 9, 2011, 6:16 PM EDT) -- A Kansas attorney who defrauded investors of about $2.5 million by claiming the money would fund a fake bank acquisition was sentenced on Tuesday to nearly four years in prison by a Texas federal judge.

U.S. District Judge Marcia A. Crone sentenced Clifford R. Roth, who pled guilty in March to interstate transportation of funds by fraud, a 46-month sentence, and ordered him to pay about $2.3 million in restitution to 21 investors.
