AAI Urges US To Probe $425M Waste Management Merger

Law360, Los Angeles (August 10, 2011, 5:49 PM EDT) -- The American Antitrust Institute asked U.S. regulators Wednesday to probe Waste Management Inc.'s recent $425 million acquisition of Oakleaf Global Holdings Inc., saying the deal could drive up costs in an already consolidated waste hauling industry.

Waste Management, the largest solid waste disposal company in the U.S., announced July 28 that it had acquired Oakleaf, which has a network of 2,500 trash disposal venders across the country and is a national leader in outsourced disposal and recycling, according to the announcement.
