Ariz. Takes Immigration Law Fight To Supreme Court

Law360, New York (August 10, 2011, 6:54 PM EDT) -- The state of Arizona on Wednesday appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court an injunction blocking key portions of its controversial immigration law, including a provision that would make it a crime for illegal immigrants to apply for jobs.

A petition for a writ of certiorari filed by Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer asks the court to decide whether federal immigration laws preclude Arizona's own efforts to enforce immigration laws and preempt four provisions of SB 1070.
