Sony Offers Aussie PlayStation Users Free ID Protection

Law360, New York (August 11, 2011, 8:09 PM EDT) -- Sony Corp. is reportedly offering 1.5 million PlayStation users in Australia free identity theft protection in response to April's massive data breach — a move that comes amid an investigation into the breach by the country's privacy watchdog — news reports revealed Thursday.

Australian users of the gaming console's PlayStation Network account who are over 18 years old and had the service when the breach occurred are eligible for a year's worth of identity protection from CSIdentity Corp., the Sydney Morning Herald reported.
