GM Recalls 16,000 Chevys, Buicks Over Steering Defects

Law360, New York (August 12, 2011, 6:44 PM EDT) -- General Motors Co. announced Friday it was recalling more than 16,000 model year 2012 Chevrolet Impalas and Buick LaCrosses to fix potential defects that could lead to either fires or loss of speed and direction control.

GM said it sent notices to vehicle owners Aug. 5 informing them of the recall. The Detroit-based car giant is recalling 11,905 Impalas and 4,293 LaCrosses, it said.
