9th Circ. Revives LA Sheriffs' Civil Rights Claims

Law360, New York (August 12, 2011, 6:54 PM EDT) -- The Ninth Circuit revived a case Friday brought against the County of Los Angeles by deputy sheriffs who claim their constitutional rights were violated because hearings on their appeals of disciplinary suspensions were never held or were meaningless.

A divided three-judge panel partially reversed and remanded a lower court's July 2008 decision that threw out the case filed by Darrin Wilkinson, Lisa Brown Debs, Sean O'Donoghue and David Sherr and their union, the Association for Los Angeles Deputy Sheriffs.
