Darvocet, Darvon Heart Risk Suits Consolidated

Law360, New York (August 16, 2011, 5:01 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation on Tuesday consolidated in Kentucky 17 suits that claim Xanodyne Pharmaceuticals Inc., Eli Lilly & Co. and others concealed health risks associated with recalled painkillers Darvocet and Darvon, as well as generic versions of the drugs.

The suits claim that Xanodyne, Lilly, and their affiliates and distributors failed to address cardiac risks associated with the painkillers, which contain the active ingredient propoxyphene. Some of the plaintiffs suffered heart attacks after taking the drugs, according to the suits.
