Ex-Va. Lawmaker Gets 9 1/2 Years For Bribery

Law360, New York (August 16, 2011, 5:54 PM EDT) -- A Virginia federal judge on Friday handed down a 114-month prison sentence to a former state legislator convicted of trading state money for a job at Old Dominion University.

U.S. District Judge Henry E. Hudson also sentenced Phillip A. Hamilton to two years of supervised release after he serves his prison sentence. On May 11, a jury convicted Hamilton of one count of bribery and one count of extortion under color of official right.
