State Farm Settles Product Liabilty Case Against Ford

Law360, New York (June 11, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Insurance company State Farm has reached a settlement with Ford Motor Co. dismissing product liability claims over a faulty speed control deactivation switch in Ford vehicles that caused a fire in a Louisiana couple’s car and garage.

A joint motion to dismiss with prejudice was filed Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, informing the court that Ford had amicably settled its dispute with State Farm Fire and Casualty Co. and State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Co. The terms of the...
