High Court Dashes Home Care Worker's Overtime Bid

Law360 (June 11, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A home care worker's long struggle for 20 years of unpaid overtime wages has come to an end, with the U.S. Supreme Court on Monday ruling that her services were exempt from time-and-a-half pay.

In a unanimous decision that affects one million low-paid workers across the country, the High Court has sided with Evelyn Coke's employer, overturning an appeals court's finding that she was covered under the wage-and-hour provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
