Smith & Nephew Hit With Knee Implant Patent Suit

Law360, New York (August 19, 2011, 1:25 PM EDT) -- Hudson Surgical Design Inc. sued Smith & Nephew Inc. on Thursday in Washington state, claiming the medical device giant's instruments for minimally invasive total knee replacement surgery violate its patent for orthopedic implants.

Hudson alleges that Smith & Nephew designed and marketed instruments for minimally invasive total knee arthroplasty that violate Hudson's intellectual property rights, including tibial cutting blocks for its Profix, Genesis II, Legion and Journey BCS total knee replacement systems.
