Wis. State Bar Says LexisNexis Stole Logo

Law360, New York (August 19, 2011, 7:15 PM EDT) -- Reed Elsevier Inc.'s legal research service LexisNexis was hit with a trademark suit Friday by the State Bar of Wisconsin, which claims LexisNexis has copied its logo.

According to the suit, the state bar holds a trademark on its logo, which features a small image of a pillar. LexisNexis recently began using a very similar logo on its Lawyers.com attorney-finding website, the suit claims.

"Consumer confusion is inevitable," the suit said. "If LexisNexis’ infringement continues, members of the public and the legal profession will be confused...
