Advocates Seek Stiffer Penalties Against Alcoa

Law360 (June 12, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Two public citizen groups have appealed a district court judge's ruling in their case against Alcoa Inc., in which they accuse the aluminum maker of violating a consent decree forcing the company to build a more ecofriendly electric plant, a project that also involved TXU Power.

Advocacy groups Neighbors for Neighbors Inc. and Public Citizen Inc. on Monday filed their appeal in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, after announcing in May that they planned to appeal the judge's March 14 order....
