Israel OKs Google Street View, With Conditions

Law360, New York (August 22, 2011, 6:46 PM EDT) -- Israel’s data protection office said Monday that it had given Google Inc. the green light to operate its Street View cars in public areas, on the condition that it abide by several strict safeguards for the public.

Google’s Street View uses cars equipped with panoramic cameras to photograph public streets and feed the footage into its Google Maps service, allowing users to take virtual walks through cities and towns.
