Class Cert. Denied In State Farm Underinsured Suit

Law360, New York (August 22, 2011, 5:56 PM EDT) -- A West Virginia federal judge on Monday denied class certification to a group of State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Co. policyholders and cut plaintiffs from the suit, which alleged that the insurer failed to properly offer underinsured motorist coverage.

U.S. District Judge Robert C. Chambers dropped two of three named plaintiffs and ruled that claims alleged by the proposed class were too unique and complex to go forward with class certification.
