Mississippi AG Hits State Farm With Katrina Suit

Law360, New York (June 12, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- True to his word, Mississippi Attorney General Jim Hood has slapped State Farm Fire and Casualty Co. with a lawsuit, accusing the insurer of reneging on a settlement deal involving thousands of Hurricane Katrina policyholder claims.

On Monday, Hood revealed that he had filed a breach of contract suit against State Farm in Hinds County Circuit Court, a month after first hinting that his office intended to hold the company accountable for the disintegration of an earlier pact.
