Invista, Rival Settle IP Row Over Spandex Chemical

Law360, New York (August 24, 2011, 5:05 PM EDT) -- Chemical and fabric maker Invista SARL on Monday resolved a suit in Texas accusing rival Frontech Inc. of taking its trade secret for processing a chemical used in products including auto parts and spandex.

The June 2010 suit from Invista, a Luxembourg company headquartered in Wichita, Kan., centered on its trade secret for processing Butanediol, or BDO. Invista accused Frontech of stealing its BDO manufacturing trade secrets, as both companies compete to license this technology in China.
