Subway Co. Fired Gay Worker Over Husband Coverage: Suit

Law360, New York (August 24, 2011, 4:50 PM EDT) -- A former office manager for Subway franchise chain OhCal Foods LLC accused the company in California state court Tuesday of discrimination and eventually firing him after he added his husband to his company health insurance coverage.

Mark Stainbrook sued OhCal, which owns a slew of Subway outlets in California and Ontario, and the company's controller, Satty Grewal, under the state's Fair Employment and Housing Act for allegedly discriminating against him based on his sexual orientation.
