Rail Contractor Settles FCA Suit For $4.6M

Law360, New York (August 24, 2011, 2:20 PM EDT) -- The contractor in charge of building a Minneapolis light rail system will pay $4.6 million to settle allegations that it lied about giving work to subcontractors owned by minorities and women, the U.S. Department of Justice said Wednesday.

Minnesota Transit Constructors Inc., a joint venture comprised of Granite Construction, C.S. McCrossan Inc. and Parsons Transportation Group, falsely claimed that it had used disadvantaged business enterprises for part of the work on the project when it had not, in violation of its federal contract, the DOJ said....
