Judge Says Righthaven Can't Sue Blogger

Law360, New York (August 25, 2011, 2:08 PM EDT) -- In the latest setback for Righthaven LLC’s copyright infringement campaign, a Nevada federal judge ruled last week that the company did not have standing to sue a blogger, even though the judge had entered default judgment in favor of Righthaven earlier this year.

U.S. District Judge Kent J. Dawson was persuaded by an amicus brief filed on behalf of defendant Bill Hyatt by the Media Bloggers Association. The judge ruled Aug. 19 that Righthaven had no standing and dismissed the complaint for lack of subject matter...
