11th Circ. Backs $19M Fine In Ala. Sewer Bribe Case

Law360, Washington (August 25, 2011, 2:04 PM EDT) -- The Eleventh Circuit on Thursday upheld a $19.4 million criminal fine levied against Roland Pugh Construction Inc. as punishment for bribing Alabama officials to obtain hundreds of millions of dollars in construction contracts on a $3 billion sewer project.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Pugh bribed Jefferson County, Ala., officials with hundreds of thousands of dollars in materials, labor and cash.
