BP MDL Judge Orders La. To Explain Discovery Refusals

Law360, New York (August 25, 2011, 5:10 PM EDT) -- A federal judge on Tuesday ordered the state of Louisiana to respond quickly to BP PLC's claims that it is not cooperating with document requests in consolidated lawsuits relating to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Sally Shushan ordered the state to provide a detailed set of reasons for why it has refused 65 of 70 document requests from BP, warning Louisiana not to merely "re-assert generalized objections."
