Congress Pushed To End FERC, MMS Dispute

Law360, New York (June 13, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Three major offshore renewable energy companies have asked Congress to resolve a dispute between the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and the Department of the Interior over who should oversee their projects.

In a letter sent Tuesday to Sens. Jeff Bingaman (D-N.M.) and Pete Domenici (R-N.M.)—the ranking members of the U.S. Senate Committee on Energy & Natural Resources—Finavera Renewables Inc., Ocean Power Technologies Inc. and Verdant Power encouraged Congress to remove any jurisdictional uncertainty between the two agencies.
