Ex-Mass. Speaker DiMasi Seeks Lenient Bribery Sentence

Law360, New York (August 29, 2011, 4:31 PM EDT) -- Former Massachusetts House Speaker Salvatore DiMasi on Friday asked a federal judge to sentence him to three years in prison for accepting bribes in exchange for helping two software companies score multimillion-dollar government contracts.

DiMasi was convicted in June of conspiracy, mail fraud, wire fraud and extortion for allegedly using his influence to secure government contracts for Cognos ULC and Montvale Solutions LLC.
