American Apparel CEO Rips Derivative Suits

Law360, New York (August 30, 2011, 2:34 PM EDT) -- American Apparel Inc.'s lightning rod founder Dov Charney on Monday blasted shareholder derivative lawsuits against him in California, saying some of the controversial behavior shareholders complain about is what made the company unique and successful to begin with.

Investors are angry about the company's oversexed image, sexual harassment lawsuits against Charney, its alleged failure to ensure it wasn't employing illegal immigrants and supposed bookkeeping problems, among other issues.
