Spears' Songwriter Doesn't Hold It Against Bellamy Bros.

Law360, New York (August 30, 2011, 3:56 PM EDT) -- A songwriter for Britney Spears’ single “Hold It Against Me” on Monday settled a Florida defamation suit against the Bellamy Brothers after the country music stars admitted the new pop song was not copied from their 1979 hit. 

U.S. District Judge Susan C. Bucklew approved Lukasz Gottwald’s motion to dismiss the suit with prejudice following an acknowledgement by David and Howard Bellamy — who make up the music duo the Bellamy Brothers — that Gottwald’s hit single on Spears’ new album, “Femme Fatale,” does not infringe...
