Whirlpool Dealt Blow In Fight For Fridge Duties

Law360, New York (August 30, 2011, 5:52 PM EDT) -- Whirlpool Corp. said Tuesday that the U.S. Department of Commerce had issued a preliminary finding that South Korean refrigerator manufacturers including Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. and LG Electronics Inc. have not received unfair government subsidies on bottom-mount refrigerators.

The decision represents an early blow to the U.S. refrigerator manufacturer in its fight against South Korean imports of bottom-mount refrigerators.
