Refreshed: FINRA's Message On Social Media

Law360, New York (August 31, 2011, 1:39 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority has issued a Regulatory Notice 11-39, in which it offers additional guidance on the use of social media.[1] The notice re-emphasizes the guidance FINRA issued in Regulatory Notice 10-06, its first foray into issues relating to use of social media. Notice 11-39 offers some general instructions and provides answers (some helpful, some less so) to 14 questions focusing on firms’ record-keeping and supervisory duties when using social media for business communications.
