EU Targets AFP Over State Aid Concerns

Law360, New York (August 31, 2011, 8:11 PM EDT) -- The European Commission reportedly told France in a letter last week that it was concerned that news agency Agence France-Presse was getting improper state aid that could distort competition.

The Associated Press reported Wednesday that the Aug. 22 letter, sent to France's mission to the European Union, said the EC had preliminarily found that the government money AFP receives could run afoul of EU prohibitions of state aid.
