Oil Tycoon Appeals Dismissal Of $500M Contract Suit

Law360, New York (August 31, 2011, 8:03 PM EDT) -- A company owned by oil tycoon Jack J. Grynberg on Wednesday appealed the dismissal of its $500 million suit in Washington that accused Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP of taking part in a conspiracy with the Grenadian government to kill an oil exploration contract.

Grynberg's Denver-based company, RSM Production Corp., said Freshfields' representation of the Grenadian government in arbitration proceedings regarding the nixed contract implicated the firm in a conspiracy with another oil company called Global Petroleum Group Ltd. and corrupt Grenadian government officials.
