Sovereign Mortgage Officer OT Suit Sent To Arbitration

Law360, New York (September 1, 2011, 6:33 PM EDT) -- Sovereign Bank on Wednesday won its bid to arbitrate a putative class action brought in Pennsylvania federal court by mortgage development officers who claim the bank failed to pay them minimum wage or overtime wages.

U.S. District Judge Curtis Joyner said in his decision that the development officers failed to provide a sufficient argument when they challenged the validity of an arbitration clause in their employment contracts.
