Obama Aims To Boost Jobs With Speedy Enviro Reviews

Law360, New York (September 1, 2011, 4:34 PM EDT) -- President Barack Obama called on federal agencies Wednesday to accelerate environmental review processes and permitting for important infrastructure projects in order to boost job creation, a move that comes a week ahead of his much-hyped speech on jobs.

By the end of September, the secretaries of the Agriculture, Commerce, Housing and Urban Development, Interior, and Transportation departments should begin expediting permitting decisions, environmental reviews, consultations and other preparatory actions for up to three high-priority infrastructure projects, Obama said in a presidential memorandum.
