Metal Shredder Co. Settles LA Pollution Suit For $3M

Law360, New York (September 2, 2011, 5:18 PM EDT) -- Metal shredder and recycler SA Recycling LLC has agreed to pay nearly $3 million to settle an air pollution lawsuit stemming from a 2007 explosion at its San Pedro, Calif., shredding facility, the Los Angeles County district attorney's office said Wednesday.

California Superior Court Judge Debre K. Weintraub signed off on the settlement, which included a consent decree permanently enjoining SA Recycling from operating its San Pedro shredder without a fully functioning air pollution control system.
