Facing Life Sentence, Ex-Triton CEO Seeks New Trial

Law360, New York (September 1, 2011, 6:18 PM EDT) -- Former Triton Financial LLC head Kurt B. Barton, who could face life in prison after being convicted of running a $50 million Ponzi scheme, on Wednesday asked a Texas federal judge for a new trial, saying his counsel had been inadequately prepared for the first one.

Barton's counsel also asked the judge to appoint a different lawyer to evaluate the mistakes they had made.
