Alleged Hackers Plead Not Guilty In PayPal Attack

Law360, New York (September 2, 2011, 4:35 PM EDT) -- About a dozen purported members of hacker group Anonymous accused of disrupting eBay Inc. subsidiary PayPal's computer servers reportedly pled not guilty to criminal charges in California federal court on Thursday.

Anonymous carried out the cyberattack in December 2010 in retaliation for PayPal's decision to restrict the accounts of the whistleblower website WikiLeaks so it could no longer receive donations. PayPal was just one of many targets in “Operation Avenge Assange,” which also hit the websites of Amazon.com Inc., MasterCard Inc. and Visa Inc.
