Teamsters Target Mexican Trucking Program In 9th Circ.

Law360, New York (September 6, 2011, 4:57 PM EDT) -- The Teamsters union challenged the federal government's plan to reopen the U.S. border to Mexican commercial trucks after a long-running trade dispute with an appeal to the Ninth Circuit on Friday, arguing that the proposed pilot program violated federal transportation safety laws.

The union and interest group Public Citizen took their concerns about the U.S. Department of Transportation's deal to the Ninth Circuit, saying that the plan ran afoul of several statutes governing motor vehicle safety and how the department can run pilot programs.
