Google To Address Malicious Changes To Business Listings

Law360, New York (September 6, 2011, 7:36 PM EDT) -- Google Inc. assured business owners and consumers Tuesday that it would fix a loophole in Google Maps' business listings that allows users — often rival companies — to incorrectly mark a store or restaurant as permanently closed.

The move comes two weeks after Mike Blumenthal, author of the Understanding Google Maps & Local Search blog, caused Google to report its own headquarters in Mountain View, Calif., as closed for at least 30 minutes.
