Qualcomm Gets PJC Vehicle Tracking IP Suits Combined

Law360, New York (September 6, 2011, 7:16 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation on Tuesday granted Qualcomm Inc.'s request to centralize 11 lawsuits over PJC Logistics LLC's vehicle tracking patent in Minnesota federal court.

The 11 lawsuits include suits filed by PJC in federal courts across the country against a slew of trucking companies — including 140 Qualcomm customers — that allege the companies violate the patent through their use of mobile fleet management systems. Qualcomm's declaratory judgment suit, which seeks to have the patent deemed invalid, will also be a part of the MDL.
