Target, Saks, Others Agree To Cut Cadmium In Jewelry

Law360, New York (September 6, 2011, 7:53 PM EDT) -- Twenty-six major jewelry retailers and suppliers, including Target Corp., Saks Inc. and The Gap Inc., agreed to strictly limit cadmium levels in jewelry, finalizing a settlement with the Center for Environmental Health in California on Friday.

The agreement, approved by a California state judge, requires all jewelry sold by the companies to contain less than 0.03 percent, or 300 parts per million, of cadmium by Dec. 31.
