Issa Slams Agencies For Financial Data Tracking

Law360, New York (September 7, 2011, 4:01 PM EDT) -- A survey of federal agencies' efforts to track their spending has revealed that agencies have made little progress in producing good spending data and making that information public, Rep. Darrell Issa, chairman of the House Oversight Committee said Tuesday.

Issa, R-Calif., said transparency efforts are hampered by lack of standardization, overreliance on inefficient and error-prone manual data entry systems, and slowness in making data public.

"Our analysis shows these systems are not serving taxpayers well," Issa said.
