Steelers Block 'Terrible T-Shirt' Maker

Law360, Chicago (September 7, 2011, 5:42 PM EDT) -- The Pittsburgh Steelers and a Pennsylvania nonprofit scored a preliminary injunction Friday against a T-shirt seller they claim has breached trademark and unfair competition laws by selling shirts that rip off the team's famous "Terrible Towels" merchandise.

U.S. District Judge Arthur J. Schwab found that defendants Eugene Berry and his company, Eugene Berry Enterprise LLC, are causing confusion about the source of their T-shirts bearing the words "The Terrible T-shirt, A Pittsburgh Original" and are infringing on the plaintiffs' statutory and common law rights and diverting...
