Mississippi AG Faces Backlash Over State Farm Suit

Law360, New York (June 15, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A national legal reform group has blasted Mississippi Attorney General Jim Hood over his suit against State Farm Fire & Casualty Co., contending that the litigation is a political maneuver designed to help plaintiffs' attorneys rather than Hurricane Katrina victims.

On Friday, the U.S. Chamber Institute for Legal Reform criticized Hood's lawsuit, arguing that it is merely an attempt to give trial lawyers “their cut of the compensation money.”
